July’s COLLECTIVE Book Club reflection explores freedom, inheritance, and legacy. Red Clay by Charles B. Fancher introduces Felix H. Parker, a man born enslaved in Alabama whose life stretches from slavery through emancipation and its complicated aftermath. Through Felix and the generations connected to Road’s End, we consider the difference between freedom and equality, the stories and silences families inherit, and what we choose to carry forward.
